News from Geoff Bonus July 2010
Hi All NSW Sydney 38 Owners
First of all best of luck and fair sailing to Swish,
Eleni, The Goat, J Steel and Zen for the Sydney Gold Coast yacht race starting
tomorrow. The forecast and routing shows that this could be a small boat yacht
race so do not be suprised if you see a 38 on the podium, as per the 2009
Hobart race. Staying ahead of the Archie 31 with the Tow Truck boys on board
may be the big challenge.
Some important dates...

Audi Winter Series 2008 Race 12 - Sydney 38 Divisional Report
Now this is more like it!
We all know any day is always a good day on the harbour, even without constant breeze, when the sun is out and even more especially when the dolphins are out to play as well.
Oops… It’s happened again! And I thought sail makers had followed the ‘KISS’ principle in making a spinnaker, being that the ‘Head’ connects to the ‘Halyard’, but obviously not simple enough for some. This time it was Contentious Issues Bowman that got it wrong. (Sorry Geoff and John, I couldn’t resist.)
And it has been proven on board ICOM Utopia this week that woman do have more patience… than men!
Congratulations to 'Messo' and the crew on their first win of the Audi Winter Series 2008. That looks like some good spinnaker timing Mel. Not only did they finish first on scratch nearly two minutes ahead of Ichi Bandit, but first on handicap as well.
Overall Provisional Results after race 12 for the Sydney 38 division are first Alan and Tom Quick’s Outlaw, second Clayton/Foye/Gordon/Peckman’s The Goat and third Peter ‘Messo’ Messenger ICOM Utopia.
With only one point separating the top four boats it is still very close racing.
